In just a couple of days, Jordan Brand will be releasing the much anticipated Air Jordan 2 Retro “Radio Raheem” shoe. Where does Radio Raheem come into play you ask? The sneaker style pays tribute to the character with that name in Spike Lee’s movie, Do the Right Thing, released in 1989. Radio Raheem was the man on the block who always carried his boombox, bumpin’ Public Enemy’s “Fight the Power.” Fans of the film will remember that Raheem actually wore the Nike Air Revolution shoe throughout the movie. Instead, these Retro 2’s draw color inspiration from his “Bed Stuy Do or Die” t-shirt; black, blue, neon pink, and neon orange. The “Radio Raheem” is just one of the Brooklyn 80s Collection, inspired by Lee’s film. We’ll most likely see more Jordan sneakers influenced by the movie throughout the year. The combination of tumbled leather and nubuck give these shoes a bit of edge and luxury. You can get your own pair for just under $200 on January 9th!
