Earlier this year, word spread of a brand new mega-event, conceptualized for fashionistas, audiophiles, artists, foodies and fans. Birthed out of the minds of creatives at Mark Echo’s Complex, ComplexCon is set to bring on sensory overload in an all-immersive two-day experience. The “expertly curated convention and festival that brings the world of Complex to life” will descend upon the Long Beach Convention Center on November 5 – 6, 2016. A Host Committee of some of the best in the game has been drafted to guide the creative process in planning the large-scale event. Legendary artist Takashi Murakami, award-winning producer Skrillex and Cultural Director/Executive Chair, Pharrell Williams, are among the big names comprising the Host Committee.
For the fashion fiends and shopaholics, ComplexCon will amass together an exclusive selection of 100+ pop-up shops and brand activations to showcase on the convention floor. Style gurus don’t want to miss out as cult favorites will be debuting collaborations, launching new products and releasing exclusive drops. Karmaloop will be in attendance and on display among top brands such as Bathing Ape, A$AP Rocky’s AWGE, Billionaire Boys Club, Union L.A., RSVP Gallery and Puma.
Contemporary art fans will have an up close and personal look at work created by current contemporary artists. L.A. based artist Patrick Martinez, known for his thought provoking neon paintings and installations, will produce a special site-specific installation at ComplexCon. In addition, Chicago native Ron English, will bring to life his well-known #Popaganda series. The collection showcasing his signature mash-up of high and low cultural touchstones will be a feast for the eyes.
For those attending who are all about the music, ComplexCon sure has a crowd-pleasing lineup. Currently, Night One includes performances from Skrillex, Kid Cudi, Travis Scott and a guest DJ set by Virgil Abloh. In addition, the daytime lineup for both days will include buzzworthy performances by Little Yachty and The Sailing Team, Chief Keef (performing his first album, Finally Rich), Metro Boomin, LOLAWOLF, Spark Master Tape, MadeinTYO, Tunji Ige, DJ Sliink, THEY., Cousin Stizz, Khalid, Smino, Jubilee, Chase B, Johan, and Ta’East.
Night Two, will feature a free show including a headline performance by Snoop Dogg, appearing on the main stage in his hometown of Long Beach for the first time ever. Curated by First We Feast, ComplexCon has partnered with some of the best restaurants, shops, and food trucks that the L.A. area has to offer.
