Our favorite badgal, Rihanna, is having a whirlwind of a month. First, she dropped her highly anticipated album Anti, which received a platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America just two days after its release. Just last week she debuted her Fenty x Puma collection at New York Fashion Week. Another box checked in her list of achievements. According to social media analytics firm Brandwatch, Puma and Rihanna ruled social media during New York Fashion Week with the hashtag #FentyXPuma, which had 35,000 mentions. On top of that, Puma announced its fourth-quarter earnings were up 2.6 percent from last year. About a year ago, Puma named Rihanna creative director for the women’s collections and the company gives her major props for the rise in sales. Now, we have a look at her latest collaboration with the brand. The new Puma Fenty Trainer is set to make its way to retailers’ shelves and online stores this Friday, February 26! You can grab yourself a pair at these Shiekh Shoes locations.
This time the collaboration moves in an opposite direction from Rihanna’s Puma Creeper design. The Creeper draws inspiration from the original retro Puma sneaker, whereas the Fenty Trainer is sleek, edgy, and futuristic. The lace-less shoe features a high-rise tongue and extended ankle collar, making for a unique high-fashion silhouette. Plastic overlays atop the breathable mesh upper add support and emphasize the futuristic vibe of the sneaker. A modern take on Puma’s signature formstripe completes the design. The shoe will be released in “Red Alert,” “Blackout” and “Whiteout” monochromatic designs.
Before you head out, take a look at Rihanna’s much talked about Fenty x Puma collection. The runway show set in a black and white forest, combined athletic-casual wear with the singer’s urban gothic flavor. A diverse group of models including it-girls, Gigi and Bella Hadid, worked the chrome runway in laced up corsets, oversized hoodies, and floor-length coach jackets. Crosses, chokers, and platform Creepers added a nineties aesthetic to the showcase. Rihanna also took to the runway in one of her designs. She rocked an over-sized quarter-zip hoodie which sat mid-thigh, allowing Rihanna to showcase her black-and-white stiletto sneakers. The collection is set to be released for sale in Fall 2016.
