The 2020 Season
Well we have come to the end of another memorable NFL season. We saw it all this year. We witnessed the Cleveland Browns choking the entire season. That led to them missing out on the playoffs after being preseason favorites to win it all. The powerhouse Patriots were eliminated by the Titans in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. Those same Titans became the Cinderella story of the playoffs by going on to beat the 2020 Super Bowl favorites, Ravens. Their historic run ended in Kansas City where the Chiefs showed everyone why they should be the 2020 Super Bowl favorites by dominating the Titans in every way. Mahomes is clicking on all levels and he looks ready to hand head coach Andy Reid his first title. In any shootout, bet on Mahomes and the Chiefs to come out on top.
Then we had the San Francisco 49ers coming out to an incredible 8-0 start. They cruised their way in the playoffs by beating a weak Vikings team that scraped a miracle win against the Saints in the Wild Card round. Then came the Green Bay Packers in the Championship round, who just so happened to be the worst 13-3 team in the history of the NFL. During the season, they were the luckiest team in the league by barely pulling wins out of nowhere. The Packers defeated the Seahawks because of the best defensive performance of the year and still managed to make it close. But once they got to San Fran for the Championship round, they finally showed their true colors.
Don’t get me wrong the Packers have a good squad but Aaron Rodgers was not himself this season. It was star running back, Aaron Jones, that allowed Rodgers to be so lackluster and collect all those wins during the season. The 49ers held the Aaron Rodgers to 0 points in the first half and only 7 points in the first 3 quarters. I will say this, Aaron Rodgers actually had a good game. Rodgers threw for 326 yards and completed 31 out of 39 attempts. They just lacked execution in the 49ers half of the field which led to them not scoring for a majority of the game. And the defense against the 49ers run was terrible. They allowed over 280 rushing yards which led to Jimmy G only having to attempt 8 passes the entire game.
What the People Say
The Kansas City Chiefs are favorites to win it all in Miami against the San Francisco 49ers. They are only given -1.5 point spread in Vegas so the oddsmakers aren’t favoring them too much. However, the general public and people in the NFL are convinced that the Chiefs are heavy favorites. Everyone loves an offensive heavy team. They love a team that can win a shootout when it comes down to it. It is attractive football and it’s easy to convince people that you’re a great team if you throw the ball and put up lots of points. This has led everyone to believe that the Chiefs will win by a healthy margin. And by healthy margin, they mean the score will be over the 54.5 pointline that Vegas has given.
The Prediction
But, I think everyone is overlooking the 49ers. They are even overlooking the pointline. I would say that the 49ers are not only going to cover the spread, but they will also win outright. I strongly believe that the 49ers have a stronger team all around. Their offense can hold its own against the Chiefs but the 49ers definitely have the stronger defense and that’s where they’ll win.
Yeah it’s going to be a close game but I see the 49ers defense saving them in the end to give them the Lombardi Trophy. I also don’t think that this is going to be a high scoring game that everyone thinks it will be. From my experience, teams tend to be more conservative in the Super Bowl. Because of that, the Chiefs and their rampant offense are definitely going to be affected by this style of game. This kind of game suits the 49ers more since they like to play it safe anyway by running the ball and ensuring ball protection. This is going to lead to a low scoring game that will over the Under 54.5 line.
