Leimert Park’s favorite rapper, Dom Kennedy, delivers with clean visuals for his track, “South Central Love.”

The song the first single pulled from Kennedy’s soon-to-release album, Get Home Safely, which has acquired a whole lot of buzz up to now. Directed by Brandon Lee Stratton and Kennedy himself, the vid has a cinematic element to it as it tells a story of summer love and life in South Central Los Angeles. Taking a trip back to the early 1990s by channeling classic films like Boyz N The Hood and Menace ll Society, the music video has the same realness that many appreciate about the films but adds a modern vibe. We wish the track was longer to keep the video going, but we guess 3 minutes will just have to do.

We’re sure that on October 1, the debut of Get Home Safely will give fans everything they love about the Los Angeles-bred rapper. But until then, peep the video below!

Do you plan on picking up Dom Kennedy’s album on October 1?
