Off-White x Air Jordan 4 Retro: His & Hers Release

Looks like we’re slated for another Off-White x Jordan collaboration. After just coming off a release of the Off-White Air Jordan 5 Retro, Virgil Abloh seems ready to release yet another collaboration. The Off-White Air Jordan 4 Retro ‘Cream/Sail’ was debuted at Off-White’s Fall/Winter 2020 women’s collection presentation.

Surprise, surprise. The Air Jordan 4 Retro ‘Cream/Sail’ appears to be another winner for Virgil Abloh. Personally, I think it is a lot better than the Air Jordan 4 Retro collaboration. It is slated to be a women’s release but the colorway is somewhat neutral. The color is a stunning pale yellow with transparent features all around the sneaker. Keeping up with the traditional raw Off-White theme, the sneaker is composed of rugged cut layers.

The heel of the Off-White Air Jordan 4 Retro does not appear to be stitched up and completed. On the toe lining the edges are left with straggling threads. The famous cage is a pale transparent color that just adds to the unfinished feel of the sneaker. The Nike Air patch on the heel is also the same pale transparent color. The air pocket in the midsole is still present but with the famous “AIR” text written right above it. And the shoelaces are also labeled in the same black text with “SHOELACES”. Obviously, the unrefined design of this sneaker is odd and unique but it works really well with the colorway and the silhouette of the Air Jordan 4 Retro. Another neat feature is the Off-White company information that appears on the inner arch of the sneaker. It sits behind the pale transparent cage.

However, the news doesn’t end there. There are reports of another release to go with the ‘Cream/Sail’ colorway. Reports are most likely pointing to a his and her release. The colorway for the men’s version is rumored to be the famous ‘Bred’ colorway. Even though it is essentially a shot for shot replica of the original Air Jordan 4 Retro ‘Bred’, Virgil instills the same deconstructed theme as he did with his ‘Cream/Sail’ interpretation. The same pale transparent features can be found on this interpretation as well. The rugged heel and toe lining cuts are still utilized in this colorway as well. The Off-White ‘Bred’ is the same as the Off-White ‘Bred’. The only differences comes in the colorway.

Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of this interpretation. The ‘Cream/Sail’ colorway is miles ahead of this one in terms of style. This pair of releases really portrays just how much of an impact a colorway can have on a silhouette. One seems to be the pinnacle of women’s fashion while the other falls flat. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think Virgil is necessarily to blame for this. The original ‘Bred’ colorway isn’t exactly one of the easiest on the eye. Yeah it is one of the most famous colorways for the Air Jordan 4 Retro silhouette but that is definitely more because of the history behind it, not the style.

How & Where to Buy the His & Hers Off-White Air Jordan 4 Retro Collection

Expect these to come out sometime is August 2020. However, the previous Off-White collaborations actually came out before the initial reported release date. Should be a really interesting release since they are reported to be a His & Hers release. That could mean more sneakers will be available at the release so more people will get access to them. They are expected to be released on the Nike’s SKNRS site just like the others. However, don’t be surprised if they are released in the summer. The colorways definitely support a summer release. What do you think about the release? Which is your favorite? Let us know in the comments below!
