Nike and Jordan blow our minds–again–with the 2014 Black History Month Collection. Today, Nike and Jordan Brand kick off Black History Month with a bang thanks to the just-released “BHM” sneaker collection. The brands pay homage to some of the most notable African-Americans who are reigning supreme in the sports world, like LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Allyson Felix, Maya Moore and Ishod Wair. With 2014 being the fourth year that the brands have released this exclusive collection, you would think that we’d be used to them hitting us with another selection of fly kicks. But yet again, they outdo themselves with the “Sports Royalty”-themed roundup of our favorite Nike and Jordan releases.

To start off the basketball selection, the Nike “BHM” KD VI gets some fancy treatment, with intertwining hues of Purple Venom and Purple Dynasty that are set off by African-inspired graphic prints throughout its base. The added touches of Metallic Gold at the BHM tongue logo, lateral Swoosh and rear KD logos definitely speak of royalty.
Our favorite BHM kicks are these dope Nike LeBron 11s. Now this has King James written all over it! The Black architectural upper has plenty of African prints throughout, with a few roaring lion graphics that remind us of James’ fierceness on the court. Subtle touches of Metallic Gold hit the side Swoosh and tongue detailing, with Purple Venom finishing off the smooth interior and sparkling rubber outsole.
The BHM Jordan Melo M10 has a bit of a tougher feel, with its Dark Magnet Grey upper. The kicks keep it simple with the Black and Court Purple down the shoe’s center. But of course, the king-like qualities come in with the Metallic Gold embossing at the sneaker’s heel.
If you’re into looking fly off the court too, the lifestyle selection within the “BHM” pack will definitely suit you.
The “BHM” Air Jordan 1 Retro Mid Nouveau stays in line with the classic Jordan feel. While the smooth Black leather upper and Court Purple accents at the laces and outsole may seem a bit simplistic, the Metallic Gold side Swoosh and funky graphic print throughout the interior give them a unique flair.
Nike BHM LeBron 11 NSW Lifestyle sneaker goes the golden guild route with its shining metallic upper that gives off the appearance that the kicks are dripping with gold. And the stitch detailing throughout the sneaker’s upper make these kicks look all the more regal.
Last but not least, Nike’s classic Lunar Air Force 1 LUX gets some “BHM” love, with its Black suede upper and iridescent ridged midsole. If you pay close attention, you can spot an African-esque tribal print throughout the shoe’s mid section and ankle strap. These are the more subtle of the collection, but they can still strike anyone’s attention.
